1. General 9 Square Competition AST
  9 SQUARE COMPETITION!!!!! TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY next week at LUNCH. HUUUGE opportunity to earn Waka points, spot prizes and have some fun. Bring your friends and get ready to battle it out on the quad (above the canteen).

 
 
1. General Student cars DHD
  Students are reminded that they are not to park their cars on the school grounds. You must park them out on the roads. This includes coming in before school for sport or music practices.

 
 
1. General uniforms and cold weather RTL
  A reminder now that the weather is becoming cooler, that only Nayland College hoodies may be worn at school, and on the way to and from school (plain black hoodies or any other type of hoodie is not permitted).
You may wear a plain black long-sleeved top (e.g. polyprop, merino / cotton) under your uniform, but without a hood.
You may wear a plain black long sleeved jacket (no branding / very minimal subtle branding) for additional warmth, outside.

 
 
1. General Y12 Inspiring Leaders Opportunity AST
  Inspiring Leaders is a 4-day / 3-night residential course from 9 - 12 July, 2024 (first week of school holidays). It is suited to Year 12 students who may be looking at applying for a Leadership position at school in their final year, but who may also need encouragement to develop their confidence. Over the course of the programme, students will undertake a variety of experiential and team-based learning activities as well as a service activity based within the local community. This is a fully subsidised course with ZERO COST to participants thanks to the Nelson City Council, Golden Bay Community Trust and the Ministry of Youth Development. Participants are asked to contribute $120pp as a suggested koha to cover food. Please register your interest with Mrs Scott to be considered for this course.

 
 
1. General Yr 12 Outward Bound Opportunity AST
  We have two fully funded scholarships for who otherwise available for Outward Bound for the Tau Ihu Course happening 31st July - 20th August. You must be in Yr 12 and wouldn't otherwise be able to afford to attend. This 21 day course is about pushing students to their limits and finding out what you are truly capable of. It aims to build courage and resilience, experience success as a member of a team, identify your values, develop an appreciation for the natural environment and experience being of service to others. If you are interested, please email Mrs Scott (alice.scott@nayland.school.nz) by Friday 17 May.

 
 
2. Meetings 10 Surf's Up - Westport Camp meeting NGO
  Can current Year 10 Surf's Up students and students who have chosen Surf's Up in the second half of the year please meet in Room 27 at the start of lunchtime on Friday 17th May. The purpose of the meeting is to give you permission slips for the Westport Surf camp in Term 4.

 
 
2. Meetings Maths Tutorials CGR
  Maths Tutorials are on every Wednesday at lunchtime in room 17 and Thursday period 1 in room 15.

 
 
3. Cultural Addams Family Production JFE

3. Cultural Drama Company Production - all welcome! FWR
  Calling all actors - Drama Company is looking for actors for a comedy play to be performed in term 3. All welcome. Please come to the PAC on Tuesday 21st May 3.15 - 4.30pm to find out more and sign up. If you are interested and can't make it on Tuesday, please let Mrs Walker or Ms Mansfield (or a Drama Company leader) know.

3. Cultural Labo In-Japan Homestay Program 2024-2025 GMR
  Labo In-Japan Homestay Program 2024-2025
This program is a must for students who are interested in travelling, meeting new people, and have an interest in Japan.  Students do not have to be studying Japanese or be able to speak Japanese, however it would be an advantage.  The program does require a level of resilience and positive attitude.

·         $7,560 per student, including return flights on Air New Zealand, accommodation throughout, all meals, 3 night winter youth camp, homestay with a host brother or sister and the support of the Labo International Exchange Foundation.

 
 
4. Careers Careers Road Show MRI
  The Careers Road Show will be at Nayland College on Wednesday afternoon and evening of 22 May. Year 12 & 13 students are scheduled to attend as follows:
Level 2, 12:15pm - 12:35pm Surnames A - G
Level 2, 12:40pm - 1:10pm, Surnames H - O
Level 2, 1:10pm - 1:35pm, Surnames P - Z
Level 3, 2:15pm - 2:40pm Surnames A - L
Level 3, 2:40pm - 3:15pm, Surnames M - Z
Your Form Teachers will be providing you with further information. Y11 are able to attend during lunchtime. Parents/caregivers have the opportunity to attend in the evening along with a seminar on how to support young people with career planning. Please register to attend a seminar accessing the link on our website, or newsletter, or through your form teacher.

 
 
4. Careers Do you work in Hospitality or Tourism? AHS
  Become an Ambassador for Nelson/Tasman by attending a free workshop to empower you when interacting with visitors to our region. Connect with tourism/hospitality professionals, learn about our region/culture, win prizes and gain continuous learning and support. Presenters include Pics and Nelson Regional Development Agency, along with others. See the Careers Office for more details on how to register for this free 2.5hr workshop. Sessions @ Pics tomorrow 4-6.30pm, or 11 June: Harvest Kitchen, Appleby, 4-6.30pm

 
 
5. Sports Ki o Rahi - Senior SRD
  Senior Ki O Rahi TSS Championships will be held on the 29th May after postponement in Term 1. If you already entered last term you will automatically be placed in a team for the 29th May. If you did not register last term but would like to play please register in the sports office.

 
 
5. Sports TSS Cross Country SRD
  Any students wanting to represent Nayland College at Tasman Secondary School Cross Country on Thursday 6th June, Please sign up outside the sports office. The event will be held in Blenheim.
