  The art club welcomes students to spend time in our art room during lunchtimes. It will be a quiet space to be creative and enjoy making your own art. To make this successful we need to leave the room clean and tidy and respect the space.

1. General Murder by the Book! TWE
  So, you thought the Library was a safe and quiet place filled with books and information? WRONG!!
A dastardly crime has been committed and it needs some detectives to follow the clues and solve the crime. Come to the Library to find out more. The 'scene' will be set up until end of Tuesday 28th May, so plenty of time. For the cleverest of Detectives - this means the one who not only correctly identifies who did it, but who reasons best how they did it, why they did it and who didn't do it, there will be a delicious prize.

 
 
1. General NEW - The Chocolate Biscuit Book Club TWE
  Launching Fri 31st May in the Library.
If you have read a really decent book or perhaps even a book and think others need to know this, then come along at Lunchtime Friday 31st to the Library so that you can tell everybody. It will be a gathering for those who like to read, where we talk about books - the good ones or even the bad. With chocolate biscuits, cos why else would it be called this?!

  Meeting Today! If you know New Zealand Sign Language, or want to learn some, come along to Room 16 at lunchtime to practise and catch up with other NZSL users!

 
 
1. General Y12 Inspiring Leaders Opportunity AST
  Inspiring Leaders is a 4-day / 3-night residential course from 9 - 12 July, 2024 (first week of school holidays). It is suited to Year 12 students who may be looking at applying for a Leadership position at school in their final year, but who may also need encouragement to develop their confidence. Over the course of the programme, students will undertake a variety of experiential and team-based learning activities as well as a service activity based within the local community. This is a fully subsidised course with ZERO COST to participants thanks to the Nelson City Council, Golden Bay Community Trust and the Ministry of Youth Development. Participants are asked to contribute $120pp as a suggested koha to cover food. Please register your interest with Mrs Scott to be considered for this course.

 
 
1. General Yr 10/11: Lit and Num CAAs CVR
  If you are entered into the CAAs next week, you must BRING YOUR CHARGED LAPTOP. We need everyone who has a device to bring one. Do not rely on the school providing you with one if you have one at home - there are not enough. We need to use the school devices for those who genuinely need them so BRING YOUR DEVICE, and make sure that you have run all the updates before Monday. Bring a calculator for Numeracy.

2. Meetings Maths Tutorials CGR
  Maths Tutorials are on every Wednesday at lunchtime in room 17 and Thursday period 1 in room 15.

 
 
3. Cultural Drama Company Production FWR
  Drama Company Production starts this week! If you would like an acting role in this production (to be staged in term 3) please come to the PAC on Tuesday 21st May from 3.15 - 4.30pm.

If you'd like to be involved and can't make it this Tuesday, please let Mrs Walker or Ms Mansfield know (or a Drama Company leader).

  If you are interested in joining the international student committee and supporting our new international students in July, please come to the international office to put your name down.

 
 
3. Cultural Labo In-Japan Homestay Program 2024-2025 GMR
  Labo In-Japan Homestay Program 2024-2025
This program is a must for students who are interested in travelling, meeting new people, and have an interest in Japan.  Students do not have to be studying Japanese or be able to speak Japanese, however it would be an advantage.  The program does require a level of resilience and positive attitude.

4. Careers Accounting study at NMIT AHS
  An Accounting open evening is being held at NMIT on Weds 29 May 5.15-7.00pm. Learn about opportunities to study here in Nelson to be a Chartered Accountant and business professional. See the Careers Office for details of how to book to attend.

 
 
4. Careers Careers Road Show MRI
  The Careers Road Show will be at Nayland College on Wednesday afternoon and evening of 22 May. Year 12 & 13 students are scheduled to attend as follows:
Level 2, 12:15pm - 12:35pm Surnames A - G
Level 2, 12:40pm - 1:10pm, Surnames H - O
Level 2, 1:10pm - 1:35pm, Surnames P - Z
Level 3, 2:15pm - 2:40pm Surnames A - L
Level 3, 2:40pm - 3:15pm, Surnames M - Z
Your Form Teachers will be providing you with further information. Y11 are able to attend during lunchtime. Parents/caregivers have the opportunity to attend in the evening along with a seminar on how to support young people with career planning. Please register to attend a seminar accessing the link on our website, or newsletter, or through your form teacher.

 
 
4. Careers Midwifery Information Evening Weds 22 May AHS
  If you are interested in becoming a midwife, ARA are running an information session at Nelson Hospital on Wednesday 22 May at 7pm.
Distance learning from home is available, with block courses in Christchurch. Register now if you would like to attend or find out more:

4. Careers Victoria Uni Open Evening AHS
  If you are considering studying at Victoria Uni for next year, ensure you register to attend their open evening on Thursday 23 May 5.30-8pm at Rutherford Hotel, Nelson. Learn the ins and out of studying in the capital. Register now via the QR code on the poster in the Covered Way, or Block 1 or 2 noticeboards.

  If you are looking to study Health at Otago Uni, scholarships are available for Y13 Maori students to attend 3 days on campus exploring Health study options.
