1. General	CACTUS - Term 3 2024	GMR
	CACTUS will be running in Term 3 2024. Collect your nomination form from the International Office in Block 2. Nominations close on Friday 14 June. If you have any questions, please talk with Gavin Millar or email gavin.millar@nayland.school.nz. CACTUS is a programme founded on basic army training. However, participants find there is much more to CACTUS than simply physical training. There are also opportunities to build self-confidence, leadership skills, communication skills and socialise with a wide range of people from all walks of life. Participants from Nelson College, Nelson College for Girls, Nayland College and Youth Nelson train three mornings a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) for eight weeks to build key attributes as individuals and as a collective group. Each session begins at 05:55am at the Nelson College for Girls gym. The course is run by an instructor, who is typically either a past or current member of the New Zealand armed forces. 1. General	REMEMBER to always log off our school owned devices.	CHD
	And if you come across a computer that is logged into someone else – Be an UPSTANDER and log them out. Digital Citizenship means being a good and responsible user of technology, especially when we’re online. This involves things like Respecting Others’ Privacy. Just like we wouldn’t peek into someone’s diary, we should also respect people’s privacy online.

	Last April we were lucky enough to launch an epic trip to Borneo for 20 Nayland students. As a result, we would like to know if any students would be interested in a similar life-changing opportunity to explore Sri Lanka in September 2025! 3. Cultural	On Screen short film	JFE
	OnScreen is Aotearoa's leading nationwide short film development platform for high school filmmakers. Students are challenged to create an original short film, documentary or music video of up to 7 minutes. Please register via the OnScreen website. They will then receive the OnScreen Manual, which covers all the essential information they will need to plan their shoot, as well as key dates, rules, and filmmaking tips. The final registration date is 30 August 2024. All films are due by 26 September 2024. We have an epic prize pool worth over $11,000, including GoPro, cash prizes, industry career sessions and more! 	Any students wanting to represent Nayland College at TSS Table Tennis Champs, please sign up at the sports office.
