3. Cultural Youth Exchange to Yangjiang, China - April 2025 L2A Wed 31 Jul 11:10am GMR
  The Nelson Branch of the NZ China Friendship Society is again arranging a student exchange with Guangdong Liangyang Senior High School in Yangjiang, Nelson's second sister-city in China. For: Eight Y12 or Yr 13 (2025) Nelson and Richmond students and two accompanying adults.

Timing: April school holidays 2025 for 12 days including travel time.

Accommodation: Students will be billeted in the school dormitories during the school week, and in a hotel during the weekend.

Students will attend classes for 5/6 days.

Funding: NZCFS Nelson branch will cover some funding, subsidising airfares to the value of $1000 per student. Personal costs are likely to be around $2500 to cover travel insurance, gifts, and some travel costs. Group fundraising can be arranged.

Applications: As this is a cultural exchange, applications are sought from senior students with a particular interest in the arts, such as music, dance, film, fine arts, drama, Kapahaka.

Return exchange: It is hoped that when there is a reciprocal exchange the selected students will be able to homestay Yangjiang students.

1. General That’s a Wrap DHD
  That’s a Wrap is selling hot chicken Mexican-style wraps on the 1st of August this Thursday, filled with chicken, lettuce, cheese, carrots, and spices. You can pre-order now using our Instagram called @Thatsawrapnaycol, or you can pay on the day using a card or cash, they are one for 4$ and two for 7$.

 
 
1. General Year 10 Reading competition TWE
  If you are in Year 10, there is an opportunity to join a team and compete for Prizes and Glory in the Battle of the Bibliophiles. You would need to read some books not of your choice (but they are very good ones) The online competition is held at the end of this term. For more details come kōrero with me in the Library

 
 
3. Cultural Nayland Unplugged- Monday 5th of August JFE
  Join our student musicians at the Boat House Nelson for an evening of jazz, rock and other contemporary styles paired with great food and drink.
Date: Monday 05 August 2024
Time: Doors at the Boathouse will open at 5:00pm. Food ( à la carte menu) and drink will be available for purchase from 5:00pm. Music will start at 6:00pm.

Hall of Residence - to increase your chances of getting a place in a hall, start your application early. Applications are open NOW and first offers are in September. Any applications after the end of September will likely place you on a waiting list.
Scholarships - Due dates vary and many are due this month. Please look carefully at the due dates and allow plenty of time for your reference writer to produce a thoughtful statement to increase your chances.
