1. General Celebrate New Zealand Sign Language Week! DSN
  Get involved with NZSL celebration this week:
1) Complete the NZSL Kahoot with your tutor class
2) Doco screening Wednesday lunchtime Room 16
3) Sign a Phrase Challenge! Learn how to sign a phrase in NZSL, practise it, and come along to the covered-way Friday lunchtime to score some Waka points. Tutor teachers have the list of phrases or check out some of the posters around the kura.

1. General Its been busy term 1, your computer needs a restart too. CHD
  Why restart your computer?
Many updates aren’t completed until you restart the computer
Restarting flushes your computer’s memory
Restarting shuts down programs that you may not need to have running, freeing up your processor for the tasks you need done.

Don't worry about losing all your tabs. It should just restore back.

1. General Period 4 - if your using a school device CHD
  When you are packing up at the end of Period 4, instead of logging off please RESTART the classroom device, then close the lid and plug it in.

 		  
1. General uniforms and cold weather RTL
  A reminder now that the weather is becoming cooler, that only Nayland College hoodies may be worn at school, and on the way to and from school (plain black hoodies or any other type of hoodie is not permitted).
You may wear a plain black long-sleeved top (e.g. polyprop, merino / cotton) under your uniform, but without a hood.
You may wear a plain black long sleeved jacket (no branding / very minimal subtle branding) for additional warmth, outside.

 		  
1. General Yr 12 Outward Bound Opportunity AST
  We have two fully funded scholarships for who otherwise available for Outward Bound for the Tau Ihu Course happening 31st July - 20th August. You must be in Yr 12 and wouldn't otherwise be able to afford to attend. This 21 day course is about pushing students to their limits and finding out what you are truly capable of. It aims to build courage and resilience, experience success as a member of a team, identify your values, develop an appreciation for the natural environment and experience being of service to others. If you are interested, please email Mrs Scott (alice.scott@nayland.school.nz) by Friday 17 May.

3. Cultural Labo In-Japan Homestay Program 2024-2025 GMR
  Labo In-Japan Homestay Program 2024-2025
This program is a must for students who are interested in travelling, meeting new people, and have an interest in Japan.  Students do not have to be studying Japanese or be able to speak Japanese, however it would be an advantage.  The program does require a level of resilience and positive attitude.

4. Careers Nelson Hospital Health Day MRI
  If you are Y11-13 and have a genuine interest in a future career in health, then this day is for you. There will be information, speakers and interactive displays. Thursday 6 June 10am - 1:30pm. Please register your interest with Mrs Raumati in the Careers Centre, Block 2. Numbers are limited, so be quick

 		  
4. Careers Victoria Uni Information Evening AHS
  If you are considering studying at Victoria Uni for next year, ensure you register to attend their open evening on Thursday 23 May 5.30-8pm at Rutherford Hotel, Nelson. Learn the ins and out of studying in the capital. Register now via the QR code on the poster in the Covered Way, or Block 1 or 2 noticeboards.

  Football Trials for the Boys 1st XI next Tuesday 14th May after school on the top field. See Brendan in the Sports Office if you can't attend.
